ArmInfo. The Court of Cassation of Armenia retired to deliver a verdict on the suit for changing the preventive measure against Robert Kocharyan, as well as on the suit for revising the essence of the verdict of the Court of Appeal.
Note. that the first lawsuit under the Prosecutor General's Office, the second one - by Kocharian's defense Lawyers for the second president, in particular, demand recognition of all three aspects of Kocharyan's right to release. The Court of Appeal has previously decided to release on bail only on the basis of one aspect - the immunity of the second president. Note that the Court of Cassation considers this complaint collectively, on the basis of the decision of the majority of judges of the Chamber.
Recall that the second President of Armenia Robert Kocharian was detained on July 28. He is charged under Art. 300.1 of the Criminal Code of Armenia in overthrowing the constitutional system in the framework of the criminal case on the dispersal of protest actions on March 1, 2008. Even before his arrest, Kocharyan called the accusation against him political persecution. According to him, this is a "vendetta" under the slogan of love and solidarity of the "velvet revolution". However, on August 13, the Court of Appeal changed the measure of restraint against Kocharyan, taking into account his immunity, and Robert Kocharian was released from custody in the courtroom.
