ArmInfo. The issue of international sanctions is very sensitive for the region, in particular, for Armenia, which has no direct access to the sea and in conditions of limited land connections with the outside world.
Thus, for Armenia it is extremely important to maintain friendly and partnership relations with Iran. On November 6 by Deputy Foreign Minister Karen Nazaryan during parliamentary hearings announced, referring to the visit of the US National Security Advisor to the President John Bolton in Yerevan, where he talked about tightening anti-Iran sanctions by the United States.
The diplomat expressed the idea that Armenia is vulnerable to communication, and decisions will be made in such a way, as not to harm the interests of the country, and the visit of Bolton was a good reason to discuss regional challenges. Armenia, as Nazaryan pointed out, seeks to develop relations with all partner countries, but not at the expense of relations with other partners.
To recall, during his visit to the Armenia, the United States Presidential Adviser on National Security Affairs John Bolton discussed a wide range of issues with the Armenian leadership, in particular, sanctions against Iran and the situation in Syria. In particular, he recalled that soon the new anti-Iran sanctions of the United States will come into force and all partner countries should react accordingly.
On October 27 Armenian Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said: "We respect the statements and national, state interests of each country, but Armenia has its national and state interests." According to him, among the geographical neighbors of Armenia, a special place belongs to the Islamic Republic of Iran. Also, it is not worth explaining what is understandable by default: relations of any kind and level with the southern neighbor are of crucial importance for our country. So, they require balanced and cautious approaches.
