ArmInfo. On April 12, the Supreme Judicial Council decided that interference in the activities of a judge was unacceptable. On November 3, the head of the judicial department Karen Poladyan stated this in an interview with journalists.
"There is a detailed information on the website of the Council about the responsibility that those who intend to call the judges, will bear, as this is a criminal act. And there is also an instruction for the judges themselves who receive such calls. The judges must notify the Supreme Judicial Council so that representatives of the latter carried out appropriate actions within the framework of the law and their powers. However, over the 7 months of the structure's operation, no such calls have been received, "Poladyan assured.
As for whether there were such calls and instructions earlier, Poladyan said that he did not know anything about it. He also noted that the Supreme Judicial Council had developed and published a comprehensive concept for improving the efficiency of the justice system in Armenia, which includes all problem areas of the judicial system. "To address all of these issues, it is envisaged to hold a series of events, a list of which will also be published in the near future," he said.
Regarding whether there are changes in the judicial system after the revolution, Poladyan noted: "The judicial system works in its usual schedule. It should be noted that earlier Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has repeatedly stated that under the previous authorities there was a practice of forcing judges to make certain decisions on the part of the country's top leadership. "There will be no such practice during my tenure," he assured.
