Robert Kocharyan: I am sure that in the near future, all those who  were engaged in the fabrication of materials on the March 1 case will  be held accountable

There is nothing surprising in this, since other  forces did not show enough political will and did not cooperate with  each other to prevent it,"Armenian Second President Robert Kocharyan  stated in an interview with Lenta.ru.

At the same time, he stressed that Armenia is now at a critical stage  currently. "The prime minister consolidates the power, as a result of  which a single-party parliament will be formed in Armenia with  complete dominance of a single political unit. And one person will  dominate in this political unit. I don't think that this situation  can ensure long-term stability. All the other parliamentary parties  stated that they are not ready for such a scenario, but it is being  pressed through by the mobilization resource that Pashinyan still  has. Obviously, if parliamentary parties are not ready for election  today, the results of the elections are quite predictable," Kocharyan  said.

At the same time, he noted that he is currently pondering the  question whether he will be the force that succeeds in breaking the  political monopoly in Armenia: "I have the reason to be seriously  concerned about the future of Armenia. This encourages me to somehow  influence on these processes. As far as I succeed, time will tell,  but I think that my past, present, my experience will allow me to  play a significant role in Armenian politics. "At the same time,  Kocharyan admitted that even before initiating a criminal case  against him, he rather actively had consulted with those who shared  his concern.  Referring to the criminal case on the events of March  1, 2008, Kocharyan stated that this is an obvious attempt to rewrite  history and describe what happened in a completely different light,  they say, there were peaceful demonstrators, against which aggressive  police and military were used. "In reality, there was nothing of the  kind, but they want to bring the criminal case under this scheme.  This implies falsification of so many things, adapting the facts,  complete lack of answers to various questions, for example, who then  injured a hundred or more policemen, who burned almost 100 cars, who  broke windows, robbed shops:  There is a video in the network, which  shows that from the side of the demonstrators, military automatic  weapons were fired, and so on - all this is impossible to rewrite.  But surprisingly, the investigation did not have that ''recording'',  although in reality, I'm sure that they simply didn't want to watch  this video. The materials of this fabricated case are arranged to  bring everything under the pre-selected scheme of accusation of  people whom they "considered" guilty. I am sure that in the near  future all those engaged in this will themselves be held accountable,  "Kocharyan assured.
