MP of the Russian State Duma Dmitry Savelyev said on the sidelines of the working session "Disinformation policy is a threat to stability in the modern world" at the 6th Baku International Humanitarian Forum.
According to him, Azerbaijan is a state that is increasingly affecting the stability and peaceful course of events in the region.
On the other hand, Savelyev noted that connecting the CSTO to the process settlement of the Nagorno- Karabakh conflict and making a discussion its settlement to another venue would certainly have a positive effect on the negotiation process.
Touching upon the negative position of Armenia on the issue of Azerbaijan's accession to the CSTO, the deputy assured that they negatively affect the stability of the organization itself.
Russia, according to Savelyev, will assertive pursue the policy of Azerbaijan's accession to the CSTO, in case official Baku wishes to join the organization. Earlier, official Yerevan, referring to the possible entry of Azerbaijan into the CSTO and the EAEU, stressed that Baku does not meet the criteria of the constituent documents of the CSTO and the Eurasian Economic Union, therefore, there is no question about the representation of observer status in these structures. "Regarding the possibility of Azerbaijan obtaining observer status in the CSTO or the EEU, I would like to emphasize that at the moment it is simply impossible, since Baku does not meet the criteria established by the statutory documents of these organizations, therefore, there was no discussion on this issue" - stressed the spokesman for the Armenian Foreign Ministry. At the same time, he recalled that all decisions in these organizations are made on the basis of consensus.
