ArmInfo. On the evening of October 23, it will be a week since the day the Prime Minister resigned, and on October 24, regardless of whether a candidate for the post of Prime Minister is nominated or not, an extraordinary meeting of the parliament should take place. On October 22, Deputy President of Armenian parliament Arpine Hovhannisyan stated this in an interview with journalists.
"There is a certain disagreement between lawyers on how to interpret an article of the Constitution, which concerns voting on the candidacy of the prime minister after the first round. Some people think that the candidature should be nominated but not elected, others tend to believe that the candidature should not be put forward ", Hovhannisyan noted.
As for the position of the RPA, Hovhannisyan assured that in its steps the party will be guided exclusively independently, regardless of the position of the government.
"There will be no surprises in the form of nominating one's candidate for the post of prime minister. Let the government decide how to interpret the Constitution. I have my own position and I'll voice it a little later, and let the government choose which of the two solutions is safest for them," she said. To note in accordance with Article 149 of the Constitution, if the Prime Minister is not elected, new elections are held within seven days. If the prime minister is not elected for the second time, the parliament is dissolved by force of law.
