ArmInfo. The Football Federation of Armenia refutes the information spread in the media that UEFA allegedly fined the FFA with 100 thousand euros for the fact that during the match between the national teams of Armenia and Gibraltar, instead of the anthem of Gibraltar, the anthem of Liechtenstein sounded.
The Head of the FFA public relations department, Hayk Karapetyan, in an interview with ArmInfo correspondent refutes this information: "How can UEFA make such a decision if its disciplinary commission has not yet met. This decision is made by this commission, I wonder where the media got this information from" .
At the same time, he did not rule out the possibility that UEFA could indeed fine Armenia, but not because of the "confusion with the anthems", but because of the behavior of the Armenian fans after the last match. "I cannot say yet when the meeting of the disciplinary commission will take place, and what decision will be made at it, but there is such a possibility. Everything depends on what the representative of the organization writes in his report," Karapetyan explained.
At the same time, he did not want to comment on the results of the game between the national teams of Armenia and Gibraltar, saying that it was not within his competence. "I can only say that the Football Federation is responsible only for the organization of the match, and, the management and coaching staff of the team are responsible for the game and its results. I think it's unfair to put forward any demands of the newly elected FFA leadership," Karapetyan concluded. To note the match between the national teams of Armenia and Gibraltar ended with an unexpected 0: 1 result in favor of the team of Gibraltar, which caused strong dissatisfaction among Armenian fans, who after the match began throwing bottles at the players, but the police prevented these attempts, there was a clash between the fans and the police. After that, the network appeared petitions demanding the resignation of the head of the FFA and the coaching staff of the team. There was another curious case at the match - instead of the anthem of Gibraltar the Liechtenstein anthem sounded.
