ArmInfo. During the summer mobilization of 2018, the RA Ombudsman's Office received 69 written and oral complaints. This was reported by the press service of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia.
According to the source, of all complaints 27 were discussed in writing, 5 of them received a quick response, the Ombudsman's Office staff also assisted another 37 citizens in resolving this issue.
Most of the complaints relate to the postponement of the army in respect to young people with significant achievements in science, medical decisions and expertise related to the health of conscripts.
In the Office of the Ombudsman, letters have been sent to the Ministries of Defense, Health and the Ministry of Education and Science in connection with the appeals. As part of the rapid response, discussions were held with members of the Central Medical Commission, officers of the military commissariat, as well as with representatives of medical organizations. Within the framework of cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science, 6 citizens were granted a deferment for significant achievements in science by the decision of the Armenian government. On the basis of the proposals of the Ombudsman, additional medical examinations and examinations were conducted, as a result of which 4 citizens were released from compulsory military service, another 2 citizens were granted a one-year delay. Seven people were found fit, with certain restrictions, another 3 citizens withdrew their complaints, as their issue received a positive decision. 6 people after the call for compulsory military service were transferred to a military hospital and are currently receiving appropriate treatment.
