The CSTO Charter stipulates that the CSTO is open for everyone to join, Kazakhstan's Ambassador to Armenia Timur Urazaev said in an interview with ArmInfo correspondent, commenting on the information on the possible entry of Azerbaijan into this organization and Armenia's negative stance on this issue.
According to the diplomat first, special procedures and regulations are envisaged for an entry of a new member. "Secondly, as far as I understand, oral statement by one of the local political figures, an MP, is not an official appeal. Various wishes or versions may be circulated among expert or political circles, but in any case, we will focus exclusively on the official appeal of the state. And, thirdly, in life, in the world and in politics, including, it is useful to do everything that makes our life better. And I guess that this statement should be considered in the context of current developments in the region including the situation related to Turkey rather than through negative attitudes to this issue in Armenia", Urazaev summed up.
Earlier, Head of Russian-Azerbaijani group of inter-parliamentary cooperation, Chairman of the Committee on legal and state building affairs of Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan Ali Husseini expressed assurance that Azerbaijan's participation in the CSTO should be considered in the light of new geopolitical conditions.
