ArmInfo. The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, announced the date of the next EU summit of the countries of the EU's Eastern Partnership program.
As Mogherini told a news conference following the meeting of the EU Council in Brussels, the next EU summit will be held on October 15 and all six Eastern Partnership countries will participate: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine.
The Eastern Partnership is a joint initiative involving the European Union, EU member countries and six Eastern European partner countries - Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. The Eastern Partnership is the eastern dimension of the European Neighborhood Policy. It aims to strengthen political association and economic integration between the EU and Eastern European partner countries. In June 2008, the European Council asked the European Commission to prepare a proposal on the Eastern Partnership in order to support regional cooperation and strengthen the EU's relations with its eastern neighbors. The Eastern Partnership was established in 2009 as a joint initiative.
