ArmInfo. The Fund's "Museum-Institute of the Armenian Genocide" Foundation held its first meeting on July 3. A number of issues are on the agenda, including discussion and approval of the charter of the Board of Trustees of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute Foundation and the rules for electing the director. Deputy Minister of Education and Science Hovhannes Hovhannisyan also participated in the meeting.
According to Councilor Hranush Kharatyan, the order of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has already approved the composition of the Board of Trustees of the Fund. At the end of the meeting, Raymond Gevorgyan was unanimously elected chairman of the Board of Trustees, Vladimir Vardanyan as secretary. And Gevorgyan himself was not present at the meeting, he informed in writing about his consent. The current director of Hayk Demoyan is not a member of the Board of Trustees.
In the course of the meeting, it was also decided that the academic secretary of the Council, Narine Margaryan, should appoint acting secretary. Director of the Museum-Institute of the Armenian Genocide, and a tender for the post of director to be announced within 5 days. The results will be announced in 3 months.
To recall, serious passions flared between former director of the Museum-Institute of the Armenian Genocide Hayk Demoyan and the head of the Ministry of Education of the Republic Araik Harutyunyan and his deputy Hovhannes Hovhannisyan. The ex-director of the museum-institute on his Facebook page accused the minister of not having the right to enter his office. Demoyan also turned to personalities, revealing, as he believes, some intimate and "unconventional" moments from the past of Harutyunyan and his deputy Hovhannes Hovhannisyan. Later he wrote a new post, inviting the minister to a public discussion in the form of a press conference. In response, in a conversation with reporters, the head of the MES said that he does not want to go down to the level of Demoyan and does not intend to meet with him. According to him, firstly, Demoyan is not the director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute, in December of last year it was decided that SNCO "Museum-Institute of the Armenian Genocide" becomes a fund, and the acting director of the structure became Gevorg Vardanyan. Demoyan was not in Armenia at that time, he left for the US in September 2017, and after his departure and before the reformation of the institute, Suren Manukyan was in the lead. "As for the visit to the museum-institute, I have a full right to do it as a minister," Harutyunyan said. He also said that he was going to apply to the police chief to "call this impostor to order." The head of the MES urged Demoyan not to confuse the atmosphere of love and solidarity with permissiveness and not to be guided by personal whims.
