ArmInfo.Armenia properly informs its partners about the actions of Azerbaijan, including in Nakhchivan direction. Tigran Balayan, Press Secretary of the Armenian oreign Ministry, stated this at a briefing in Yerevan on July 2, touching upon yesterday's information of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia about the attempts of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan to move positions in Nakhijevan direction, as a result of which a shoot-out was initiated, an Armenian soldier-contractor was wounded.
Balayan stressed that the Armenian Defense Ministry is actively informing about the operational situation on the front line, and he has nothing to add. "From the political point of view, it's not new that Azerbaijan acts on the basis of their irresponsibility principle, and not fulfilling the commitments, and we, for our part, continue to raise this issue, both to the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, and to our other international partners and We believe that serious work is to be done by mediators in this direction, "he said, adding that Azerbaijan's failure to fulfill its obligations demonstrates disregard for the mediators in the first place.
The representative of the Armenian Foreign Ministry also disagreed with the fact that what is happening in Artsakh is in no way interconnected with the security of Armenia. According to him, what is happening in Artsakh has a direct impact on Armenia, moreover, the situation on the Karabakh-Azerbaijani contact line has a direct impact on the processes in Armenia and its security. "And our diplomats are well aware that the distance from their offices to the line of contact is not great. We inform our partners about the situation, quite promptly, regardless of whether the worker is a day or not," he said.
Touching upon the possibility of the deployment of CSTO troops on the border with Nakhijevan, so that the Organization is more acutely aware of what is happening on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and possible challenges, Balayan expressed the belief that the Armenian Armed Forces do not need help on the Nakhijevan section of the state border to monitor the operational situation. "This site has full control over the situation, and we do not need the deployment of the armed forces of another state, so that they feel all the threat that comes." The responsibility for protecting our state border is vested in the Armenian Armed Forces, and as the processes on the state border in the last two days, we confidently and efficiently carry out the assigned duty, "he said.
Once again, referring to the unannounced exercises periodically held by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, the representative of the Armenian Foreign Ministry noted that there are venues on which Armenia voices the existing problems, and one of such sites is the OSCE. However, he regretted the fact that those documents, where it is written about the need for timely warning of ongoing exercises, do not specify the mechanisms of punishment in case of their non-fulfillment or violation. "We can only voice the problem, which we have been doing for many years, since Azerbaijan has already become accustomed to conducting exercises without informing them, and I believe that this should already cause concern not only for Armenia but also for other partners who assumed the same obligations, "Balayan said, expressing the conviction that this is another manifestation of irresponsible behavior of Azerbaijan as an international player, and assured that Armenia will continue efforts to counteract these acts with new zeal.
