ArmInfo. General Manvel Grigoryan will remain in custody. The Armenian parliament at an extraordinary meeting on June 19, as a result of secret ballot, granted the second petition of Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan to deprive the former deputy of his freedom.
According to the chairman of the counting parliamentary commission Gagik Melikyan, 82 deputies took part in the secret ballot. According to the results of the vote it was found out that 77 deputies voted for the deprivation of Manvel Grigoryan, against - three, 2 ballots were declared invalid. Thus, the parliament of the country gave the go-ahead for Manvel Grigoryan's imprisonment.
As noted in the second petition of the Prosecutor General, all the revealed circumstances increase the risk that, while at large, Manvel Grigoryan will try to exert pressure on the participants of the process, hide evidence, falsify documents, or run away. The social position, conditioned by the status of the now former deputy and former posts, creates the prerequisites for a certain influence.
The accused faces up to eight years in prison.
