ArmInfo. There will be no changes in the foreign policy agenda of Armenia, as the head of the new government of the country has repeatedly stated. Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Ruben Rubinyan stated this during an interview with Radio Liberty, referring to a possible change in the country's political course and changing the nature of relations with Russia.
"Russia is our ally and we will continue to be members of the Eurasian Economic Union and the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO)." Closely, cooperation will continue both in bilateral and multilateral formats, both with Russia and with other partners in the Collective Security Treaty Organization and the EEA. "But this does not mean at all, that there cannot be any questions or problems in these relations and that we cannot voice them and that will not be resolved in an atmosphere of friendship and mutual understanding, "Rubinyan said.
At the same time, the deputy minister did not answer the question regarding the mistakes made by the previous authorities in relations with other countries, including Russia, considering it incorrect. According to him, at last, legitimate power has been established in Armenia, which is a powerful tool for promoting the Armenian nationalities in the international arena.
Commenting on the results of the participation of Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanian in the meeting of the CSTO Foreign Ministers Council in Almaty, Rubinyan noted that he had not yet had time to get acquainted with their results. "However, I think it is important for our minister to sound at the meeting questions related to the provocations of Baku on the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border and the contact line aimed at aggravating the situation and which do not contribute to the negotiation process," the deputy minister said.
Asked about the direction Armenia should take today in the direction of the EAEU or the EU, Rubinyan said in particular: "I consider this to be a false agenda." We are members of the EAEU and will make efforts to increase the effectiveness of our membership in this integration project We also intend to continue to deepen our cooperation with the EU, and in this regard I consider it important to ratify and apply the Armenia-EU comprehensive and expanded partnership as soon as possible, I believe that this will help accelerate the process of liberalization of visa regime ", - said Deputy Foreign Minister, and in this context, adding that Armenia intends to deepen and develop the relations with all friendly countries.
Speaking about areas in which Armenia and the US could cooperate, Rubinyan noted that it is difficult to name specific industries, as there are many areas. However, he expressed his gratitude to the United States for its constant assistance to the Armenian side in implementing reforms in the Republic.
