ArmInfo. The Armenian Defense Ministry is not concerned with the redeployment of the positions of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces.
"The situation is completely under control, and we neutralize any movement by our effective activity," Defense Minister David Tonoyan told reporters on June 1 after the meeting of the Armenian government, commenting on the information that the Azerbaijani side in Nakhijevan is trying to move its positions forward. According to the minister, everyone should understand that Azerbaijan carries out certain movements on its territory - in Nakhijevan. At the same time, according to the minister, it is unreasonable at this stage to raise the issue of CSTO intervention. "I think that we need to soberly assess the situation." The Armenian Defense Ministry does not see any problems at the moment, "he said. As for the visit of the heads of the MFA and MFA of Armenia to the south-western section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, according to Tonoyan, this was due to the desire of the Foreign Minister personally to get acquainted with the situation on this stretch of the border.
As David Tonoyan pointed out, he periodically, several times a day, reports to the Prime Minister about the situation both on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and on the contact line between the Karabakh and Azerbaijani armed forces.
At the same time, the head of the defense department informed that in the days of the April events in Armenia there were certain clusters on the contact line. This, he pointed out, was due to Azerbaijan's concern over possible provocations by Armenia.
To note, during the "velvet revolution" in Armenia, the ruling RPA, as well as the ex-head of the Defense Ministry Vigen Sargsyan, repeatedly stated about the accumulation of forces on the border and on the contact line. Nevertheless, the deputy from the "Yelk" bloc, Sasun Mikaelyan, refuted this information from the rostrum of the Armenian parliament, calling them speculation by the authorities. As Vigen Sargsyan said on May 9, these days he never got calls from MP Sasun Mikaelyan, either from the acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan or from somebody else, "who would have rang the bell and asked if this statement is in line with this statement reality or not, or on what grounds it is made.
