ArmInfo.Perhaps, in the near future, we will have results on the case of March 1, 2008 events. The Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan stated this on May 23 in the Parliament of Armenia.
According to him, the results in the case can be in the event that there are people who will cooperate with the investigation. The Prosecutor General also noted that the preliminary investigation into the March 1 case is ongoing. Now, active measures are being taken to use the new technical capabilities. Touching upon the possibility of questioning the second president of Armenia, Robert Kocharian, Davtyan noted that for interrogation, there must be necessary grounds. "The body that conducts the proceedings decides who should be interrogated, if it needs to be questioned simply for a tick, then this will not give anything to this production," the Prosecutor General said. Earlier, Nikol Pashinyan appealed to the Prosecutor General of Armenia with a proposal to call for the second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan for interrogation on the events of March 1, 2008. Pashinyan, in particular, was interested in the question of where Kocharyan had information that the rally participants were shooting at police officers because of one of the vehicles. In response to this, Viktor Soghomonyan, the head of the Robert Kocharyan office, commented: "In recent days we have witnessed the most cynical phenomenon in the history of the third republic - when the main provoker of events on March 1, 2008 initiated hearings on this issue in the National Meeting and presided over them, sitting in the chair of the Speaker of Parliament."
After the presidential elections of 2008, at which Serzh Sargsyan won the official victory, the dissatisfied opposition, along with the protest electorate, took to the streets of Yerevan. As a result of the clash of protesters with the forces of law and order, 10 people were killed.
