ArmInfo. The internal political situation in Armenia is an exceptional domestic matter. The head of the EU delegation to Armenia Piotr Switalski announced on May 11 in Yerevan on the margins of the opening of the Days of Europe in Armenia. "The Armenian people have proved that they are able to overcome the political crisis on their own. Proceeding from the aforesaid, the European Union tries to refrain from any comments on this issue," the ambassador said.
The European diplomat also recalled that the EU and EU member states have repeatedly these days made statements on the situation in Armenia, the main message which was one - is a call to dialogue. "We are pleased that Armenia managed to overcome this crisis within the framework of the Constitution. And we are ready to continue our cooperation in the implementation of the new agenda of our cooperation in the framework of the agreement on a comprehensive and expanded partnership EU-Armenia", said Switalski. And in this context, he recalled that the National Assembly of Armenia unanimously ratified this agreement, which indicates the commitment of the Republic to continue interaction in the same vein.
However, he stated that the EU is closely studying all the statements voiced by the newly elected Prime Minister of Nikol Pashinyan and are confident that the relationship will continue to develop in a spirit of partnership. "We are optimistic about the implementation of the framework agreement. We are convinced that the new prime minister and the government share this point of view. We are deeply convinced that the pace of our interaction will continue, as it proceeds from the interests of both Armenia and the Armenian people. We should pragmatically move forward on this issue," the ambassador said.
To clarify whether he had already met with Pashinyan, Switalski replied that he did not. However, according to him, Pashinyan had a telephone conversation with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini, which took place in a positive atmosphere, in which they discussed specific cooperation objectives.
