ArmInfo. Today's regular meeting of the National Assembly of Armenia did not begin due to the lack of a quorum. By the regulations for 10.00 only 29 MPs were registered.
In this regard, NA Speaker Ara Bablonyan was forced to announce a break before securing the quorum, but if the quorum is not provided within four hours, the May 2 sitting will be declared invalid.
A deputy from the "Tsarukyan Bloc" faction, Vahe Enfiadjian, announced a political boycott by the parliamentary faction. "In the current unprecedented situation, we declare the beginning of a political boycott of the RA National Assembly meetings," Enfiadjian said.
Note that among the registered there were not many deputies from the ruling faction of the Republican Party, which has the majority of mandates in the country's parliament. Not the least role is played by the fact that today a meeting of deputies with members of the government is to be held, which is in a "suspended" state. A number of government officials have already resigned, joining the protest movement.
Recall that the day before, after the National Assembly did not approve the candidacy of the leader of the protest movement Nikol Pashinyan, the opposition called for the continuation of the actions of civil disobedience. Pashinyan said that by rejecting the popular candidate for the premieres, the RPA buried itself completely. "So tomorrow we are announcing a total strike." From 8:15 am, we close all the streets and roads, as well as the way to the airport and the railway, I say it as a popular candidate for premieres. "We won, but the Republican Party refuses to recognize this victory, but we will bring it to the end, "Pashinyan said, urging the police to join the popular movement. At the same time, the oppositionist again reminded that his struggle is exclusively peaceful, and there should be no violent actions during the actions. "Just ignore the Republicans, make them political marginals, as if these people do not exist at all," Pashinyan said, again putting forward the demand to elect him as prime minister without preconditions and alternatives.
