ArmInfo. A delegation of deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation will meet today a little later with the acting Prime Minister of Armenia Karen Karapetyan, said the first deputy chairman of the parliamentary committee on CIS affairs, Eurasian integration and relations with compatriots Konstantin Zatulin.
"I think we do not need to explain for a long time why we came. We are concerned that serious events are taking place in Armenia, with which we are bound by the CSTO commitments, where Russian business is the main investor, and where our military personnel are located, both within the Gyumri base and at the borders. As friends of Armenia, we are concerned about this, "Zatulin said.
He stressed that the Russian side is concerned only with the fact that the situation has been settled in a legal constitutional way. "We are unacceptable with force or revolutionary solutions to the situation, in which case Russia will be forced to build its relations with Armenia not de jure, but de facto, this is not a threat, it is a statement of fact," the deputy said. And this idea was stressed at the meeting of Russian deputies with the Chairman of the National Assembly of Armenia Ara Babloyan and with his Armenian colleagues.
Zatulin said that he met with Artsakh President Bako Sahakyan and second Armenian President Robert Kocharian. At the same time, he expressed regret at the fact that the meeting with the leader of the opposition movement, MP Nikol Pashinyan did not take place, since he was offended by the statements of the member of the Federation Council Nikolai Ryzhkov in his address.
At the same time, he expressed the opinion that Azerbaijan will not take advantage of the current situation in Armenia to escalate in the Karabakh conflict zone, since this will lead to the consolidation of the Armenian people, which is not in Baku's hands.
Touching upon the possible development of the situation, Zatulin did not rule out that Gagik Tsaroukyan, the leader of the Tsaroukyan bloc, could nominate to the post of prime minister besides Karen Karapetyan and Nikol Pashinyan.
