ArmInfo. The meeting of Armenian and Russian parliamentarians in Yerevan was marked by a scandal - Nikolai Ryzhkov, a member of the Council of Federations of the Federal Assembly of Russia, called the opposition leader, MP Nikol Pashinyan "stupid”.
Ryzhkov also said that Pashinyan's movement is no different from the Ukrainian "Maidan." The deputy from the Tsaroukyan bloc Naira Zohrabyan, who tried to explain to the Russian parliamentarian that Pashinyan's protests do not have a geopolitical trace, contradicted this. "This is an exclusively national movement," Zohrabyan said.
This was extremely disliked by the Republican Party deputies, who liked Ryzhkov's speech. The RPA MP Hermine Naghdalyan, in particular, asked Zohrabyan why she was entrusted to Pashinyan. In response, the deputies from the Tsaroukyan block left the meeting room.
The unanimous speeches of the Russian parliamentarians and RPA deputies regarding the situation in Armenia had to be parried by the deputy from the "Yelk" bloc Edmond Marukyan, who advised his Russian colleagues not to interfere in the internal affairs of Armenia and to be correct in their statements.
To note, the Russian parliamentary delegation these days arrived in Yerevan to get acquainted with the situation at the spot and to hold meetings with the representatives of the political forces.
