Israeli diplomat: Peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict is  desirable for all

ArmInfo. Everyone understands that a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is desirable for everyone. This opinion was expressed in an interview  with APA by Israeli Ambassador to Azerbaijan Dan Stav.

"I believe that the commitment of President Ilham Aliyev to the  peaceful settlement of the conflict deserves approval and it is easy  to give advice from the outside. I do not think that concrete advice  can be given on this issue. I believe that certain principles must be  observed. I want to say that peaceful settlement is desirable. We had  wars with all our neighbors, but we and the other party, showed an  interest in a peaceful settlement. . We have signed with Egypt and  Jordan peace treaty," said an Israeli diplomat.

At the same time, he considers it important to stabilize the  situation on the territory, which in turn will reduce the level of  threat and will allow channeling even more resources for the  development of the country. "The main thing is to put an end to the  conflicts with neighboring countries, we did this through direct  contacts, with the help of the third countries, which created  favorable conditions for the talks, here we see that Azerbaijan and  Armenia support the efforts of the Minsk Group. the format has been  approved by both sides. As I know, negotiations are under way in this  direction. We approve of the two meetings of presidents held in 2016  and the summit held last year. We hope this will be a turning point."  he added.

At the same time, he expressed hope that the negotiations, which will  continue in particular after the elections, will really give a chance  to resolve the conflict. "In this aspect, Azerbaijan is right: each  side will benefit from the settlement of the conflict, but again I do  not adhere to the position to dictate to Azerbaijan and Armenia what  the settlement should be." Our country supports the efforts of the  Minsk Group that will lead to a settlement of the conflict. We  support negotiations that will be fruitful and will meet the  interests of both sides, we support the territorial integrity of  Azerbaijan, "the diplomat concluded.
