ArmInfo. The Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Piotr Switalski, is optimistic about the ratification and implementation of the Armenia-EU extended and comprehensive partnership agreement signed on November 24, 2017 in Brussels.
According to the press service of the European Friends of Armenia (EuFoA), Switalski said in a briefing at the EuFoA office in Brussels on the Armenia-EU relations, in particular: "We have clear signals that the agreement will be implemented in good faith".
At the same time, the diplomat added that, despite the fact that Armenia is the smallest country in the Eastern Partnership, she is most interested in the EU.
Switalski believes that the agreement can act as a catalyst for domestic reforms needed to stimulate Armenia's economic potential. "Armenia has all the necessary ingredients for growth and prosperity, in particular, intellect and human capital, but to achieve sustainable economic development, changes are needed. Today this is hampered by an overly regulated and monopolized system that creates obstacles for young Armenian entrepreneurs and, ultimately, forcing them to leave the country, "the ambassador said.
The event, which was attended by more than 40 representatives of EU institutions, the diplomatic corps, international NGOs, the research community and the media. The meeting also considered issues such as gender inequality, emigration, visa liberalization, etc.
