ArmInfo. Sanctions of the US Treasury in relation to a number of Russian businessmen in one way or another are in touch with Armenia and various spheres of its economy.
Such a point of view on January 31 at a press conference in Yerevan was expressed by the member of the board of the Armenian National Movement (ANM), the former chairman of the parliamentary commission on foreign relations Hovhannes Igityan. The expert believes that the new sanctions against Russia are initiated not by the desire to exert pressure on Moscow or to defeat it, but by "aggressive actions" of the Russian Federation in Ukraine because of the "seizure of the Crimea" and the ongoing cyber war. "Armenia should closely monitor the processes, why sanctions are imposed on Russia, and, on international sites, refrain from supporting documents that are anti-Ukrainian," he said. At the same time, Igityan added that Armenia should conduct a more far-sighted policy, and do it in such a way that the same Russia would be considered with it. To note, the day before it was announced that the US Treasury prepared a "Kremlin report" which included 210 people - 114 major Russian officials and state company executives, as well as the first 96 businessmen from the Russian part of the list of billionaires Forbes, published in April 2017. and three Russian businessmen of Armenian origin co-owner of the largest retail chain "Magnit" Sergei Galitsky (located on the 18th line from the Russian part of the list of billionaires Forbes, published in April 2017), the president and founder of the group comp Nij "Tashir" Samvel Karapetyan (line 32), co-owner of "Rosgosstrah" Daniel Khachaturov (48). According to the law "On Countering America's Enemies through Sanctions" (CAATSA), the US Treasury was obliged to submit a report on high-ranked Russian officials and businessmen until January 29, 2018 (the authors of the law call them oligarchs). According to article 241, the document should include information about the relationship of these individuals with Russian President Vladimir Putin, their involvement in corruption, their net capital and sources of income, as well as about the assets of relatives (including wives, brothers and sisters, children and parents). A separate document will be devoted to the possibility of a ban on US investment in Russia's national debt.
