ArmInfo. Russia and Turkey have always been and will be competitors for the sphere of influence in the South Caucasus; the interests of the two countries in this region are interbreeding. Vice Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Edward Sharmazanov stated this in a conversation with journalists.
According to him, despite some apparent warming in the relations between the two countries, they cannot be allies, especially in the South Caucasus region, where their competition sometimes comes to confrontation. As proof of the above, he cited the fact that the positions of Moscow and Ankara differ in all regional and non-regional conflicts, starting from the Karabakh conflict, ending with the Syrian and the Crimean. "Obviously, Russia will never give up its positions in the South Caucasus of Turkey," the vice- speaker summed up.
