ArmInfo. The signing of the Agreement with the EU is a reflection of the trend of Armenia's return to the "and-and" policy, in exchange for "or-or." Such an opinion was expressed by ArmInfo Director of the Analytical Center for Globalization and Regional Cooperation Stepan Grigoryan
On November 24, Armenia signed the Agreement on Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership with the EU on the margins of the Eastern Partnership Summit in Brussels. Signatures under the agreement in the presence of the president RA President Serzh Sargsyan and Chairman of the European Council Donald Tusk were appointed by the RA Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian and the head of European diplomacy Federica Mogherini.
"By means of such a policy, our country is really capable of playing the role of a bridge between the same EU and the EEA, especially against the backdrop of serious unrelenting contradictions between Russia and the West." One should not underestimate the desire for cooperation with the EU from another neighbor, Iran. there is something to be said and proposed on this vector of global politics, "he said. For Azerbaijan, the "Karabakh" wording of the Agreement, according to the analyst, has become a real failure because in the summer of the 2018th Azerbaijan-EU Agreement, formulations that differ from the wording of the agreement with Armenia can not be any more."
In general, Grigoryan assesses the Agreement as a serious, providing alternative development opportunities, achievements for Armenia. Among such areas, the political scientist pointed out energy, small and medium business, fighting corruption, monopoly. And also the reform and greater independence of the courts, which, in his opinion, will lead to an increase in investments in Armenia.
The agreement on a comprehensive and expanded partnership has already become public. The accent in the extensive 357-page document is put on the affirmation of justice, freedom, security in Armenia; reforming the Constitution and the judiciary; observance of human rights and fundamental freedoms, etc. All this is provided that the European Union participates in financing various projects in Armenia. The agreement will come into force after ratification by the parliaments of Armenia and 28 EU member states.
