Damage to the state as a result of corruption crimes in Q1 2017 was  75 048 359 AMD, less than half of the amount was restored

ArmInfo.In Q1 2017 Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia adopted 356 criminal cases on various corruption crimes,according to  the Prosecutor General's Office.

According to the message, 195 people were prosecuted in criminal  cases, which is 43.38% more than in the first half of 2016 (139  people).

35 defendants were arrested on these crimes, including 3 judges, one  of whom was the chairman of the court, one prosecutor, two  investigators, four members of the Customs Committee, the same number  of policemen and 3 officers of the penitentiary institutions. This is  45.83% higher than the same period of the first half of 2016 (21  high-ranking officials).

The investigation was completed in 269 cases, 69 of which (on them  pass 117 accused) are sent to court.  The number of people accused of  corruption crimes in the first half of 2017 compared to the same  period in 2016 increased by 91.8%.

In the first half of 2017, the number of cases with the indictment of  the court on corruption crimes increased by 12.45% compared to the  same period in 2016. At the same time, in the reporting period,  compared to the first half of 2016, the number of cases with an  acquittal was reduced by 13%.

The Prosecutor General's Office also reports that in the first half  of 2017, under Article 308 (abuse of office), 70 criminal cases were  instituted, according to which 32 officials were prosecuted. This is  79.48% more than in the first half of 2016.

Under articles 311 and 123 of the RA Criminal Code (giving and  receiving bribes) in the first half of 2016, 29 cases were taken into  the proceedings, over which 24 accused were held. Meanwhile, in the  first half of 2017, 35 cases were taken into production, according to  which 54 accused were held.

These data show that in the first half of 2017, as compared to the  same period in 2016, the number of cases brought under these articles  increased by 125%, the number of persons prosecuted for them  increased by 125%, the number of indictments and The number of  criminals sentenced to arrest for corruption crimes doubled.

According to the Article 375 of the RA Criminal Code (abuse of power  or inaction of the authorities) 42 cases were prosecuted in court  proceedings, according to which 69 criminals were sentenced.  Meanwhile, in the first half of 2016 under this article, the judge  considered 4 cases in relation to 11 persons, on to which the  prosecution was convicted in three cases against 10 people.

In the first half of 2017, the damage inflicted on these crimes  amounted to 79 million 784 thousand 259 AMD. The damage inflicted on  the state amounted to 75 million 048 thousand 359 AMD out of this  amount. As a result of the measures taken, the damage was restored in  the amount of 36 million 201 thousand 669 AMD, out of which 32  million 831 thousand 669 AMD were allocated to the state.
