ArmInfo. The referendum in Catalonia contains extremely disturbing trends for Russia, Turkey and Iran. Hrachya Arzumanyan, an expert on military and national security issues, expressed his opinion to ArmInfo about the director of the Center for Strategic Studies "Ashkharh" (Stepanakert).
On October 1, a referendum was held in Catalonia, which raised the issue of secession from Spain. According to the official representative of the Catalanian Ministry of Education, Jordi Turul, the separation from Spain was supported by 90% of the voters. In total, 2.3 million out of 5.3 million voters voted in the referendum. Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy has already stated that "there was no referendum on Catalonia's independence."
The analyst described the Catalan plebiscite as another step in approbation and polishing the geopolitical instrument "one-sided referendum" in the context of the security environment of the 21st century. The objectives of the instrument's involvement, according to his estimates, have not changed and are still aimed at reformatting large spaces formerly normalized within empires.
"In my opinion, the" one-way referendum "is sharpened precisely for use in the aforementioned post- imperial spaces." The question is with whom the designers will begin, although in Russia, as well as Turkey, all this is already working.
Arzumanyan is convinced that this process will also affect Europe, since where it began - in European regions, those intending to separate are not in power. According to his forecasts, after mastering the "one- sided referendum" instrument, its components can be strengthened by the force aspect, and future threats are weakened by striking out autochthonism.
