Sharmazanov: Armenian opposition by its actions should not play into  the hands of the  adversary 

ArmInfo. While the Armenian opposition calls into question the activities of Soviet leaders of Armenian origin, discussing the expediency of preserving the names of  the streets bearing the names of these figures, Aliyev's agitprop  also attacked them with all might.

Vice Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Eduard Sharmazanov said in a conversation with ArmInfo correspondent.  "If the trace of these figures in history were not so  significant, and they did not bring honor to their people, Baku today  did not turn to their activities, did not make them a target of  criticism. We need to be aware of this and not to pour water on the  propaganda mill of the enemy by our actions. We should appreciate the  sons of our people and their serious contribution to the creation of  world history, "Sharmazanov said.

To note, in the Azerbaijani media publications appeared in which the  activity of the Marshal of the Soviet Union Ivan Bagramyan and one of  the leaders of the Armenian national liberation movement of the late  XIX - early XX centuries, the national hero of the Armenian people  Andranik Ozanyan, were sharply criticized.

Earlier, Yelk opposition block proposed to rename the streets and  schools of the capital, named in honor of the figures of the Soviet  period. In particular, the faction "Elk" in the Council of Elders of  the capital suggests renaming the streets named after Alexander  Myasnikyan, Sargis Kasyan, Anastas Mikoyan. The opposition faction  "Yerkir Tsirani", in turn, also intends to raise in the mayor's  office the issue of renaming streets and schools bearing the names of  Bolshevik leaders. According to the head of the Yerkir Tsirani  faction Zaruhi Postanjyan, they are going to start from the  Leningradyan street. Mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryan has already  expressed his readiness to discuss the proposals of the opposition.
