According to the report of the Police, on August 29, at 15:30 Yerevan time, in a non-functioning billiard club , located at 15/6 Rostov (Yerevan Erebuni district), the man took hostage to a resident of the 9th Nor- nork Massif, 1993. Before that, he had broken glass and inventory of the club. When law enforcement officers arrived at the scene, a man holding a knife in the throat of a hostage demanded that the club include five civilians and a lawyer, threatening otherwise to kill a woman. Attempts by law enforcement officers to persuade the perpetrator to release the hostage were unsuccessful, and a decision was made to neutralize him. As a result of the operation to neutralize the criminal was injured incompatible with life. It is noteworthy that at the first attempt to neutralize the criminal the police sniper missed and only with the second attempt he managed to hit the target. After the release, the woman was taken to the medical center "Erebuni".

As it became known to the media, the detained criminal Gore Hakobyan, born in 1983, was the son of the Yerevan authority "Kayaranzi Bibosa", who currently resides in the United States. Hakobyan himself also lived in the US, but the American authorities deported him to Armenia.
