Annual film festival "Golden Apricot" to be held from 9 to 16 July

The Ministry of Culture of Armenia, together with the general partner of the Golden Apricot Film Festival, Viva Cell-MTS, announced the launch of a significant cultural event in the world of the Armenian film industry - the 14th annual Golden Apricot Festival, which this year will be held from 9 to 16 July.

As the press service of Viva Cell-MTS told ArmInfo, the opening will  show the first historical- revolutionary Armenian film directed by  Amo Beknazaryan "Haspush" about the life of poor villagers of Persia  of haspush people (1927 release) in connection with the 90th  anniversary of the film. According to the director of the film  festival Susanna Harutyunyan, this silent film will be shown under  the accompaniment of the music of the band Vahagn Harutyunyan,  written specifically for the film. For the closing, a documentary on  the Armenian Genocide of Joe Berliner "Intention to destroy" was  chosen. 

According to the source, about 1100 people from 96 countries applied  for participation in the festival, and more than 100 films are  included in competitive and out-of-competition programs.

To note, the Golden Apricot Festival has been held in Yerevan since  2004 and is considered one of the most prestigious in the region. The  festival was organized with the support of the Ministry of Culture of  Armenia and VivaCell-MTS. The main theme of the Festival is the  intersection of cultures and civilizations. This topic is closely  connected with the idea of the changes through which humanity has  passed through the entire history of its formation. The festival  accepts films about various ethnic groups and nationalities, about  deep human experience, about the daily life of ordinary and unusual  people, their joys and sorrows, attempts to find meaning in this  volatile world, when the boundaries of the normal are erased before  our eyes.
