ArmInfo. Azerbaijani delegation on Parliamentary Assembly NATO during spring session of the organization, which took place on May 26-29 in Georgia, came out with the provocative statements on Karabakh conflict.
As the head of Armenian delegation to the OSCE PA Koryun Nahapetyan told during the press conference today, representatives of the Azerbaijani delegation raised the issues of "occupation of their territories" by the Armenian armed forces. "In response, we stated that Azerbaijan itself occupied a number of Armenian territories - Getashen, Martushanen, Artsavshan and Shahumyan villages," the lawmaker said, stressing that, nevertheless, the Armenian delegation tried not to go on about the Azerbaijani provocation and will not deviate from the main agenda of the session.
According to the lawmaker, the participants of the session highly estimated the cooperation level with Armenia. In its turn, Armenian delegation suggested extending apparatus of NATO program on individual cooperation. "Deputy General Secretary NATO promised to review proposal of our delegation and answer as soon as possible", Nahapetyan stressed.
During the session it was also talked about the conflicts at the space of Eastern Partnership, the representatives of Georgia and Great Britain stressed that Russia is involved in all of them. Armenian delegation member countered this confirmation, stressing that it is forbidden to unify different on their nature conflicts. What is to Karabakh conflict and Russia involvement on it, Armenian lawmakers, contradicted this opinion, stressing that despite the presence of Russian military base in Armenia, it is in no way involved in the conflict.
"Azerbaijani delegation members permanently raised an issue on preferential deliveries of Russian weapons, including the Iskander of Armenia. Obviously, Baku is very concerned with this process. We, in turn, reminded of Azerbaijan's multimillion-dollar arms deals not only with Russia, but also with other countries, stressing that Armenia is only trying to ensure balance of forces in the region, but the process of arms race is not among the priorities of Yerevan, "said Nahapetyan.
