ArmInfo. Forming bilateral and trilateral formats of cooperation with the participation of Iran and involving Turkmenistan will allow to increase the political role of Armenia in the region, such an opinion was expressed today during the press conference by the Iranian scholar Vardan Voskanyan.
As an example, he brought Armenia-Iran-Turkmenistan gas agreement. "From this point of view, the reelection of Iran active President Hassan Roukhani is a favorable fact for Armenia, as Tehran will continue cooperation with Yerevan over the implementation of these projects," the expert said, adding that with the re-election of Roukhani in the coming years, there will be no serious changes in Iran foreign relations.
He stressed that the energy sphere is the locomotive of the relations between Armenia and Iran, and it is not by chance that the third high-voltage power transmission line is being built. At the same time, the expert stressed the importance of establishing new communication routes. "Iran considers Armenia as an important road zone, and we should carry out the construction of one of the components of this North- South route as soon as possible, taking advantage of the fact that the Iranian -Azerbaijani railway is not being built due to the fact that the promised amount of money is not allocated by Azerbaijan and since the Azerbaijani bank, which promised to allocate this sum, went bankrupt, this project hangs in the air, "Voskanyan said.
For the Armenian side, he continued, additional opportunities of agenda implementation have opened. "We should manage to use the moment, undertaking steps for railroad construction connecting Armenia and Iran," Vardan Voskanyan added.
He also assured that the talks with such country as Iran in a language of sanctions and threatens is already history. What is to recent call of USA President Donald Trump to isolate Iran, Voskanyan stressed: "USA faces the issue to strengthen its positions with Iran. Surely, Tehran has problems with Saudi Arabia, with some Arabian countries, but these states have no chance to isolate Iran. It is not beneficial for them in a political sense and dangerous from military point of view."
