ArmInfo."Observer citizen" Initiative's activist Daniel Ioannisyan is not surprised by the positive assessment of CIS Observation Mission on parliamentary elections in Armenia, he does not consider it to be adequate.
"If compare the last elections with those of in Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Belarus and Russia, than obviously the evaluation will be positive, however we must struggle for a more high level of democracy and for us those countries are not objective", he stated, adding that the elections were held with multiple violations affecting the results therefore it can not be evaluated as positive.
In her turn, the lawyer and activist of the initiative Lusine Hakobyan noted that the statement of the CIS mission that publication of the lists of voted citizens may be a violation of human rights is illogical, since this mechanism helps to exclude or reduce the possibility of multiple voting. "In addition, the publication of the lists will help to identify the vote instead of another person, which is a criminal offense," she stressed. Hakobyan noted that materials on the recorded violations are already being prepared and will be transferred to local electoral commissions, and then to the CEC. In her opinion, on the eve of a dubious high voter turnout was recorded.
In opinion of the CIS observers, the technical innovations to some extent made it difficult for people, especially the elders, the preparatory work, but nevertheless contributed to their minimization. Observers do not think that the RPA abused the administrative resource. All political forces, they believe, were given equal rights and opportunities. In general, electoral legislation and the organization of elections showed that the right of Armenian citizens and freedom of expression of voters during the elections were secured. "Even in a certain sense, Armenian colleagues have surpassed some European countries that are trying to teach us democracy," said Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee Sergey Lebedev.
