ArmInfo. There are some cases of malfunction of the up-to-date equipment being applied in Armenia for the first time in order to minimize the possible fraud, Chairman of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) Tigran Mukuchyan told reporters.
Mukuchyan said that the parliamentary elections in Armenia started at 8 am Yerevan time. The voting is going on normally. The number of the polling stations in Armenia is 2009. 12 of them will be opened at penitentiaries.
Mukuchyan recalled that the voters are being registered in the republic by means of technical devices (a total of 4,000 devices). At the same time, Mukuchyan spoke of the cases of malfunction of the equipment. "In one case, the specialist registering the voters by means of technical devices was replaced due to health reasons. At two polling stations of Lori province cases of equipment malfunction have been fixed and the registration is being carried out by means of coupons.
Earlier on Sunday, the Ohanyan-Raffi-Oskanian (ORO) sources reported that at many polling stations the devices have been made out of service. The ORO bloc demands that the authorities should immediately stop the illegal actions against the voting rights of the Armenian citizens and that the law-enforcers should detect and punish the law-breakers.
