
ArmInfo. The pre electoral campaign in Armenia was conducted in conformance to the regulations, no serious violations of law have been registered during the period of parliamentary race. This was stated at a press conference by Sergey Lebedev, the CIS observers mission head, assuring that in response to observers' inquiries on possible violations during pre electoral campaign the law enforcement entities answered that no complaints have been submitted by now.
"Such flow of pre electoral campaign sets all the preconditions for tranquil elections, and I would call the political forces of Armenia stay back of artificial heating the situation in the country during parliamentary elections," he stated, expressing a hope that the elections expected will be conducted in free, fair and transparent manner. He also accentuated the technical innovations that are being implemented in Armenia (identification units, DVR-s, cameras at electoral sites and others). No CIS country has such equipment. But all this should be tested, and I hope there will be no obstacles while operating those,'' he stated.
Lebedev stated also that 25 members of CIS observers mission are IN Armenia from March 14, have been in 8 regions and communicated to electoral commissions members. "We have also held a number of meetings with the representatives of different political forces, state entities officials, and we attentively monitor the mass media works," he clarified, accentuating that the observers mission will work in a strict conformance with local regulations and will not intervene the electoral process.
To mention, according to the invitation of the national Assembly of the Republic of Armenia an international observers team is formed on behalf of CIS Interparliamentary Assembly to implement long term and short term monitoring of preparation and conduction of the elections to the National Assembly of Armenia. In total, CIS IPA is represented by 23 observers from six countries - Republic of Belarus, Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Republic of Moldova, Russian Federation, and the Republic of Tajikistan. The group is formed from law makers, authorities officials and experts of the International Institute for Democracy Development Monitoring.
