ArmInfo. In the process of negotiations with Armenia on the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement there are open questions. This was stated by Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov in an interview with APA. "Yesterday, we held wide discussions with the Russian Foreign Minister. Some opinions were heard.
On April 2, parliamentary elections will be held in Armenia. After that, we will return to the question again. There are some questions on which we cannot agree. These are questions that have remained open before. There are no new issues", the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister said. He also said that within the negotiation process on the settlement of the problem at the initiative of Russia a trilateral meeting at the ministerial level will be held. According to Mammadyarov, in order for this meeting to yield results, it is necessary to wait for the holding of the parliamentary elections in Armenia. "This is important for preventing politicization of the issue", the diplomat said.
Touching upon the aggravation of the situation in the conflict zone in February, Mammadyarov expressed the conviction that tensions at the front show that this conflict should be resolved, progress must be made in the negotiation process. "There should be substantive negotiations. The Russian side is aware of this. Official Moscow wants to negotiate. However, we are talking about the political will of Yerevan. The Armenian side must demonstrate its will by withdrawing its troops from Azerbaijani lands", resumed Mammadyarov.
