ArmInfo.The Armenian-Turkish relations' normalization will remain among priorities of France, on February 17 during the "The future of Armenian-Turkish dialogue on the international relations crossroad and the memory questions" discussion, the French Ambassador to Armenia Jean-Francois Charpentier.
The Diplomat recalled that after 1915 the dialogue between Armenia and Turkey was impossible. "The situation changed after 2000 due to the "Football Diplomacy" and followed steps. Despite the closed borders between the states, the contact between the people remain, even an air connection exist", noted Charpentier. At the same time he added that the dialogue between Armenian and Turkish societies must remain and develop. The Ambassador brought as an example the settlement between France and Germany. "I hope that today's discussion will help to identify the solutions of problems. The normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations is important also for the regional security and will remain among our priorities", the French Ambassador stated.
To note, On October 10, 2009, the Foreign Ministers of Turkey and Armenia, Ahmed Davudoglu and Eduard Nalbandian respectively, signed the "Protocol for diplomatic relations setting" and the "Protocol for mutual relations development" in Zurich (Switzerland). The Documents include the creation of "Independent Historians" committee for Armenian Genocide research. However the protocols were never ratified by the Parliaments of the States, as Ankara was putting reconditions on the way of ratification. In this light by the Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan's instruction the ratification process by the Armenian Parliament was frozen in February 2015 and were withdrawn from the Parliament.
