ArmInfo. The intensive transformation of the world globalization model opens up new opportunities for the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), according to Vladimir Lepekhin, Head of the Institute of EEU Countries.
"I think this process that started since Donald Trump was elected US President has big prospects. The United States has experienced not only a power shift, but formation of an absolutely new foreign political line, a concept that implies transition of global governance from unipolar to a multipolar system," he said.
Such trends in the US foreign policy opens up new opportunities and horizons for Eurasian integration projects and they are a real chance for a number of countries on their way to gaining true sovereignty, first of all, economic sovereignty. Lepekhin noted that the globalization model of economic development first of all implies inevitable loss of the participants' sovereignty, whereas the Eurasian integration model implies strengthening of the sovereignty.
"For instance, the parameters of Armenia's economic development are set in Brussels, London, Washington, etc. The different vectors of globalization and Eurasian integration processes gives Armenia a chance to gain its own sovereignty," the expert said.
