
ArmInfo."United Armenia" union headed by the former Head of Special Operations Unit of Ministry of National Security of Armenia Artur Aleksanyan supports all the political initiatives by former Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan and other forces that intend to join him, member of the union, former MP Azat Arshakyan stated at the press conference today.
At the same time he confirmed the information of mass media that currently beside United Armenia "Heritage" Party, the "Third Republic" Party, headed by former Deputy Head of President's Administration Viktor Dallakyan, "Unity", headed by former Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian and "Democratic Party" headed by Aram Sargsyan are currently holding negotiations on the issue of joining Ohanyan. "This is not the entire list of political and public organizations that currently are holding negotiations for uniting", Arshakyan stated adding that it is not so important which forces will enter the coalition, most importantly, they are doing it with the aim of making reforms. He also did not refute the information that former Defense Minister of Artsakh Samvel Babayan and former Minister of National Security of Armenia Karlos Petrosyan will also join the new coalition. Arshakyan also informed that they are actively cooperating with "Justice Within Armenia" movement, which unites well-known figures from Diaspora, including film director Atom Egoyan, actress Arsinee Khanjian, and musician Serj Tankian.
At the same time he did not reveal the sources of financing of the newly established union refuting the information that Russian businessman of Armenian origin Andranik Nikoghosyan will sponsor it. "He does not have enough money for that", the former MP stated at the same time stressing that anyone who wants to finance the coalition is free to do that as according to Arshakyan Money does not stink. "We are not against taking money from either second President Robert Kocharyan or Chairman of Union of Armenians of Russia Ara Abrahamyan, however without any obligations", he stated.
Arshakyan also informed that the goal of the newly established coalition is to make radical reforms in Armenia. "We need to strengthen Homeland-Artsakh-Diaspora ties, and for this reason activists from Diaspora and Artsakh should be involved in the public-political process in Armenia, a two-house parliament should be established in Armenia for this purpose. MPs from Diaspora and Artsakh should be represented in the upper house. Constitutional reforms should be made in Armenia for this reason", the former MP summarized
