ArmInfo. The Artsakh problem resolution methods proposed and voiced by Levon Ter-Petrosyan at the congress of the Armenian National Congress Party are self- defeatist, Hrachya Arzumanyan, Head of the Stepanakert-based "Ashkharh" Center for Strategic Studies, has told ArmInfo.
"These are self-defeatist in both political and ideological terms. Let the current players think what is behind it - an intention to prove his rightness expressed in 1997 or the party's ideology. It is not clear why Ter- Petrosyan starts the calculation of the Armenian political time from 1998, and not from 1997 after the disastrous Lisbon summit, or 1996, the first rigging of the presidential elections, dispersal of demonstration by the troops and usurpation of power by Ter-Petrosyan and Vazgen Sargsyan," he said.
Arzumanyan recalled that Ter-Petrosyan included Artsakh in the domestic political life of Armenia, personally engaging his supporters and future presidents in the power, thereby destroying Artsakh's factor. He thinks that the analysis of the international security environment proposed by the first president of Armenia is also at the level of 1998. So, the conclusions and recipes are unacceptable. Like Ter-Petrosyan, Arzumanyan considers the nation-army unacceptable.
Arzumanyan also pointed out the positive sides of Ter-Petrosyan's speech. He thinks Ter-Petrosyan's speech was the first political speech he has heard over the past few years. The analyst stressed that the first president's team is qualitatively stronger than the incumbent president's team. He thinks that unlike the Republicans, Ter-Petrosyan's team is at least trying to realize what is going on in the country. He also stressed the adequacy of Ter-Petrosyan's assessment of the domestic political reality.
