ArmInfo. There is no Karabakh peace process at the moment, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said at a meeting with workers of culture in Artsakh.
"There is no peace process, because the latest serious talk on the Karabakh conflict settlement was on August 10," he said, adding: "If we fail in Artsakh, we will fail everything in Armenia, too".
When speaking of the situation on the line of contact of the Karabakh and Azeri troops, Sargsyan said that now the situation on the frontline is calmer than a year ago. When asked why he decided to visit Artsakh and meet with workers of culture now, Sargsyan replied: "Now we are experiencing a period when both the army and the people should be prepared for hard times. The army has a lot of needs, which should be impartially assessed, because our capacities are not limitless to resolve all the problems. So, it is necessary to determine the priorities".
As regards the July events related to the seizure of the police compound in Yerevan, Sargsyan said that he is "the most gentle-hearted head of state" in the region. He also reproached the workers of culture: "How many representatives of intellectuals made speeches during the July events? Yes, the role of the state is great, but it is not fair to lay everything on the state. There are moments, when intellectuals play an important conciliating role," he stressed.
