ArmInfo.Rex Tillerson`s appointment as US Secretary of State demonstrates Donald Trump's intention to soften the sharp corners with Russia, analyst Sargis Hatspanyan has told ArmInfo.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has already announced Moscow's willingness to cooperate with Rex Tillerson. "We are ready to work with any partners interested in development of equal relations with Russia. I think President Trump and the future Secretary of State are pragmatic people and we hope pragmatism will be a good basis for building mutually beneficial cooperation," Lavrov said.
"I think the decision on this appointment can be interpreted as the White House's courtesy towards the Kremlin. I can say that Donald Trump's America and Barack Obama's America strongly differ and this is vividly observed in the very first steps of the US President-elect. This is already demonstrated in the reaction of the Democrats, who blame Trump for the "pro-Putin appointment'," says Hatspanyan.
He thinks that within the next few years one should expect the influence of Zionist circles and Israel on the US foreign policy to decline. However, he also thinks that there will be no U-turn in the US policy, given that 80-90% of the staff of the US Department of State are ethnic Jews.
