ArmInfo. The unofficial pre-election campaign in Armenia is in full swing, according to Caucasus Institute Director Alexander Iskandaryan.
He thinks what the Republican Party of Armenia is doing today is typical pre-election PR and an attempt of rebranding. "However, the problems in the country need long-term solutions. They cannot be resolved within the 4-5 months left before the elections. But something should be done and the RPA is doing it quite successfully by means of words and new people. One of those people is the Prime Minister of Armenia Karen Karapetyan. I think it is a correct strategy, which has managed to reduce that public tension in the country's elite that became especially obvious after the April war in the Karabakh conflict zone," Iskandaryan said at a press conference on November 30.
When asked how long Karapetyan will be the prime minister, Iskandaryan said that everything depends on how well Karapetyan can strike roots in the power.
To note, during the 16th congress of the RPA, Armenian President and RPA Chairman Serzh Sargsyan said that if the RPA wins the parliamentary elections in 2017, Karen Karapetyan will continue to head the Government.
