

ArmInfo. Russia is concerned about the situation around Karabakh conflict; Chairman of Russian Federation Council's Committee for International Affairs Konstantin Kosachev stated answering to ArmInfo's correspondent's question.
He stated that during the April war Russia was following the developments with anxiety. "We responded immediately and used all the possibilities for reducing tensions and this was managed to do, however no progress was reached in the settlement", the politician noted. According to him there were some moments, which gave hope for progress, however currently Karabakh settlement goes round in circles.
Kosachev also touched upon the upcoming meeting of Armenia and Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministers in December. According to him each such a meeting gives hope that progress will be reached in the settlement. Russia does everything possible to ensure progress and is ready to assist it", he noted, adding that currently the sides of the conflict are not so emotional and this may assist resumption of the process.
The politician also noted that yesterday he met Armenia's Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian and Defense Minister Vigen Sargsyan, with whom he discussed Karabakh settlement as well. "We learnt that the Armenian side is ready to move forward and considers that it is Baku, who slows down the process. We would like to see that Baku and Yerevan reach compromise. Russia's mission is to assist these negotiations", he stated adding that he had direct contacts with Azerbaijani counterparts and he will inform them what he has been told in Yerevan. "Parliamentary ties can lead to dominance of political and not military solution of the problem", he noted.
