ArmInfo. The general jurisdiction court of Armavir province has delivered a verdict on the case of embezzlement at the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant (ANPP).
The former director general of ANPP, Gagik Markosyan has been found guilty and sentenced to 5 years 9 months and 7 days in jail without property confiscation. At the same time, the first instance court has taken a decision on conditional cancellation of the sentence, setting a 3-year probation period. The former chief commercial officer of ANPP, Rubik Movsisyan, has been sentenced for 4 years 1 month and 7 days in jail. The sentence has been conditionally cancelled and a 3-year probation period has been set.
A similar decision has been taken against the former head of the ANPP repair department, head of the division responsible for procurement Eduard Ghazaryan. He has been found guilty and sentenced for 4 years 9 months and 7 days in jail, but a 3-year probation period has been set.
To recall, in July 2016 the Investigation Department of the National Security Service of Armenia announced the completion of the pre-trial investigation over the case of procurement at ANPP. The source reported embezzlement involving the aforementioned persons. Due to the investigative measures of the National Security Service, the crime has been disclosed and the damage (783 million 586 thousand drams or nearly 1.7 million dollars) has been compensated for.
