ArmInfo. Ex-lawmaker Viktor Dallakyan accuses Head of the Bright Armenia Party Edmon Marukyan of cooperating with President Serzh Sargsyan.
The politician thinks that the failure of Marukyan's party and its candidate at the mayoral elections in Vanadzor is the result of the boomerang effect. Dallakyan says that though Marukyan was non-partisan at the elections of 2012, he enjoyed the support of Serzh Sargsyan and the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA). "I had a personal conversation with Sargsyan and he said that he had met with the 'bright' criminal. So, he made it clear that he was personally promoting him," Dallakyan said, adding that Marukyan forged his documents and had no right to run for MP. "He broke the law that says that a candidate for MP shall live in Armenia for at least five years, whereas Marukyan was in the United States for a year and 17 days (from 13 June 2009 till 30 March 2010)," he said.
Dallakyan noted that one of his biggest mistakes in his political career was the cooperation with Serzh Sargsyan and his admission to the Republican Party. "But when the President suggests 'passing the way together' in order to work more effectively for the benefit of the country, it is hard to reject his suggestion," he stressed. He added that he does not deny his previous statements that Serzh Sargsyan is a gambler and his bets at the Monte Carlo casinos start from 50 thsd USD.
To note, non-partisan Viktor Dallakyan was elected MP from Vanadzor under the majority election system in 2007. However, in 2012, after he joined the Republican Party of Armenia, he went out at the parliamentary election and Edmon Marukyan (who was a non-partisan then) became a lawmaker. Since then Dallakyan has been the deputy chief of the Presidential Administration and the Armenian President's Representative in the National Assembly of Armenia.
