
ArmInfo. Despite the oppositionist forces had united candidate from ruling Republican Party Mamikon Aslanyan won mayor elections in Vanadzor gaining 19 votes.
Head of "Orinats Yerkir" faction and member of Armenian Rebirth Heghine Bisharyan expressed assurance that members of her party have voted for candidate of "Bright Armenia" Krist Marukyan. She stated that all those who have breached the agreement are amoral persons.
Member of "Prosperous Armenia" Armen Avetisyan in turn assured that his party fellows also voted for Marukyan. At the same time he noted that the party can prove that fact. Leader of "Bright Armenia" party noted that it will become clear who has breached the agreements during the upcoming sittings of the Council of Elders. At the same time he added that his supporters were under pressure all the time. "It remains to be seen whether the results of these elections will remain in force or not", he stressed. At the same time he added that he does not want to breach presumption of innocence and blame any force.
Winner candidate Mamikon Aslanyan stated that he does not know who has violated the agreement and voted for him. He also refuted the statement that the opposition was exerted pressure on.
To recall, earlier Bright Armenia, Prosperous Armenia and Armenian Rebirth signed a memorandum on cooperation in Vanadzor. According to the document, at the first sitting of the Elders' Council, the specified parties were to support the candidacy of Bright Armenia representative Krist Marukyan. To note, according to the official data of the Central Electoral Commission, Bright Armenia has 10 mandates, Prosperous Armenia - 3 mandates, Armenian Rebirth - 5. With its 15 votes, the RPA would have to be in the minority.
