ArmInfo. Ilham Aliyev's response to the statement by U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry on Karabakh is a result of the OSCE Minsk Group's tolerance to the Azeri leader's provocative rhetoric and actions. The remarks came from Shavarsh Kocharyan, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia. He is sure that due to such approach of the co-chairs, Aliyev gets a deeper feeling of permissiveness and Baku displays more disrespects for the OSCE MG co-chairs and their leaders.
"Azerbaijan not only refuses to implement the arrangements made in Vienna and Saint Petersburg to create conditions for a progress in the peace talks, but also denies the principles suggested by the co-chairs for peaceful resolution of the conflict," Shavarsh Kocharyan said.
Earlier, on Friday, the Azerbaijani president expressed surprise related to the recent statement made by the US Secretary of State John Kerry about the sides' unwillingness to settle Karabakh conflict. "To blame Azerbaijan in non- settlement of the conflict is at least unjust", the Azerbaijani President said. He stressed that the presidents of the USA, Russia and France have repeatedly stated that status quo in the conflict is unacceptable. According to Aliyev with the existence of such a serious statement, blaming equally both sides in non-settlement of the conflict is simply support to the policy of Armenia. "We do not accept such statements. We believe these statements should be corrected soon at the highest level," he added. "Otherwise, the mediating mission can be called into doubt."
To recall, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry recently said in Washington that no favorable conditions have been created yet for settlement of the Karabakh conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia. He thinks the resolution of the problem is impossible now first of all because the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia are not prepared for it.
