ArmInfo. One of the candidates for Echmiadzin's mayor Artur Tumanyan has been hospitalized, his supporter MP Hakob Hakobyan informs. According to him the candidate is in Erebouni medical center.
According to non-official information Tumanyan's condition is critical and possibly he will not be able to participate in the elections.
At 11:30pm yesterday the car of the incumbent Echmiadzin Mayor Karen Grigroyan was shot. Girgoryan is the son of General and MP from Republican Party Manvel Grigoryan. Karen Girgoryan and his brother were in the car at the moment of shooting. There are rumors that candidate for mayor Artur Tumanyan and nephew of previous mayor Hrachik Abgaryan made the shot. Later Tumanyan and Abgaryan suffered in a scuffle, both were hospitalized.
To note, this is not the first scandal incident related to elections of Echmiadzin's mayor. Earlier citizen of Echmiadzin Karen Khachatryan stated that Grigoryan's supporters kidnapped him and kept till the deadline for nomination of candidates.
To recall, Echimadzin mayor elections will be held on September 18. As the website of Armenia's CEC informs current mayor Karen Grigoryan, official from Echmiadzin municipality Artur Khachatryan and Artur Tumanyan are the candidates.
