ArmInfo. Armenia benefits from appointment of its representative as CSTO Secretary General but one should not exaggerate expectations related to this appointment, Head of Armenian National Assembly Delegation to NATO PA Koryun Nahapetyan told journalists today commenting on appointing Armenian representative as CSTO Secretary General.
"One should not expect that due to appointment of our representative as Secretary General of CSTO beneficial decisions will be made on all the issues important for us. CSTO is an organization that has its statutory goals and we should have clear stand in our expectations as the organization cannot exceed the bounds of its statutory goals'', the parliamentarian noted answering to the question about possible change of CSTO's stand on Karabakh issue after the new appointment.
At the same time he refused to voice the name of the new Secretary General of CSTO.
To note, there are rumors disseminated by mass media that Armenia's Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan will become the new Secretary General of CSTO and his appointment will be announced on September 14 at the session of the organization's council in Yerevan.
